RinR: Sprang Breaking

Ah, Spring Break. An absolutely necessary week off for teachers so we don't dropkick students off our buildings.  YES YOU NEED A PENCIL. It's funny how different Spring Break is now that I'm a 30 year old teacher. When I... Continue Reading →

Gringa Diaries: Malbec and Mendoza

One of Ryann’s dreams that happily provided the impetus of further travel in Argentina was to drink copious amounts of Malbec wine (her fav) in Mendoza (where it's from). We looked on a map, looked up flight prices and bus... Continue Reading →

RinR: That One Time I Met Kerri Walsh and was Super Cool About It

....is the title of another blog, set in the future, about an event that has not happened. Because it certainly does not describe what happened to me on Sunday.

about being single on valentines day.

Normally in the States, I'm so jacked up on conversation hearts that I can be pretty numb to the pain of being single on Valentines Day. And every day. All day. Because it is. It's okay to love being single to celebrate the heck out of it, and to also acknowledge that it can be really, really hard.

We live in a changing world - my first big trip through Europe I was scrambling for Euros whenever I spotted an internet cafe to quickly write error-laden emails home (due to whatever language keyboard quirks I was dealing with)... Continue Reading →

RachelinRio: Arraial do Cabo

A few weeks ago, desperate to get out of dodge and with an inviting four day weekend ahead of us, we rented a car for a mini-holiday. Being on the road in any capacity in Brazil is an adrenaline rush... Continue Reading →

Zippers and Other Times I Feel Single

The other night our neighbor came over to say the water in the building was out. Which was a bummer because I was disgusting and needed a shower. But a few hours later our sink was still working, so I... Continue Reading →

R2R: thankful

maybe the best part about any job are the unspoken parts. the bits that aren't explicitly written into your contract. the subtext you create. for me - I am thankful for the many times each day I am reminded what... Continue Reading →

mission to me

I'm sharing in Chapel next week. Our theme is "Missionaries" and mission trips have completely shaped my life for the last seventeen years. In case some of you don't know the story, I thought I'd practice my chapel share a bit here.... Continue Reading →

TeacherDiaries: Mondays

I look forward to Mondays. I look forward to the challenges I will face with my students. To the words I will discover they don't know and figuring out a meaningful way to act them out and a poster I... Continue Reading →
